Rise of the Nameless Dwarf

Nameless makes his first appearance in book 3 of the Shader series, The Unweaving, but it is the events of book 5, Rise of the Nameless Dwarf that lead on to the Chronicles of the Nameless Dwarf.

In case you were wondering how terrible his actions as the Ravine Butcher could really be, given that Nameless is such an affable, ale drinking, bawdy barrel of laughs, here's a sneak preview at the (unfinished) cover art for Rise of the Nameless Dwarf:

  2. Hello. The story that was set to be Shader 5 was released as part of Legends of the Nameless Dwarf book 2: Geas of the Black Axe. Due to requests from agent/publisher, I put together a complete Nameless Dwarf story arc and separated the latter stories out from the Shader series. Thanks for you interest!

  3. If book 5 became part of the Nameless series, how does the Shader series end?

  4. Hello Mickey. For now the series ends with book 3 The Unweaving. The Archon's Assassin remains on sales purely because of reader requests. However, I have been working on an extended Shader storyline (Templum Knight) which may or may not include some of the Archon's material as well as the material slated for book 6, Saphra.

  5. Thanks for responding. So when/how do we get closure to Shader, Shadrak, Aristodeous, Demiurgos, Archon/Blightey, etc. ? Book for ends telling you to go to Book 5. Since there is no book 5, we seem to have some cliffhangers. On a side note, what a fantastic series, story and concept. Thoroughly enjoyed it so far.

  6. The story of Archon's Assassin has been retold in Geas of the Black Axe (Legends of the Nameless Dwarf 2), but no longer features Shader and Rhiannon. It does include the conclusions with the Archon and goes on with the full Nameless Dwarf story arc. With Shader, the second trilogy (Archon's Assassin, Rise of the Nameless Dwarf, Saphra) was initially scrapped due to a publishing commitment with the Nameless Dwarf material. I have since started working on a complete Shader overhaul (Templum Knight) which will take the story to its conclusion with Saphra. I've so far written an extra 80,000 words, but it's been sidelined by the need to produce two new novels for publication. I'm hoping to get back to it next year. I definitely want to salvage some of the Shader Archon's scenes (the wolves in particular, and the tunnel beneath the sea).

I've written a few posts about my progress on Templum Knight on my new website www.dpprior.com

Thanks for reading and for your feedback. If you've not read Legends of the Nameless Dwarf yet, Carnifex (book 1) is currently free (all retailer links are at www.dpprior.com/books)

    All the best!

  7. Hello, I am interested in reading the Nameless Dwarf series, as I am a big fan of dwarf-centered stories such as Markus Heitz The Dwarves, but don't know where to begin, or the chronology. I have found a number of series of amazon, namely the legend of the nameless dwarf, and the nameless dwarf series, as well as another book, Ravine of Blood and Shadow, I'm just a little overwhelmed. Any help or advice would be Very appreciated.
